Above Locarno in Canton Ticino, Switzerland's sun lounge, there is an easy-to-reach viewing point from which you can see Switzerland's lowest point, Lago Maggiore, and its highest peak, the Dufourspitze in the Monte Rosa massif. A modern cable-car takes you in just a few minutes from Orselina up to Cardada at 1,340 metres above sea level. From there you catch the chair-lift to Cimetta at 1, 670 metres above sea level where you have an unforgettable 360-degree view of Lago Maggiore and the surrounding valleys.
Cardada Cimetta has hiking trails for people of all ages. For active guests there is a small reflex zone trail, an orienteering trail, official Nordic Walking trails, a mountain bike circuit and a launch point for paragliders. Families with children can spend time in the two play areas or in Noah's Ark, take a stroll along the shady fun walk, or go on a treasure hunt with Squitty the Squirrel.
You can also sample typical dishes from Canton Ticino at any of the five restaurants and mountain cabins.
