I’m currently at a rehab centre getting some really excellent treatment. I’m also aware that all this costs a lot of money. I had an unpleasant experience abroad when my insulin pump suddenly packed in. The foreign bureaucracy meant that it was far from easy to get hold of two different kinds of insulin and pens. So I eventually ended up in the emergency ward of a large hospital, where I quickly realised just how spoiled we Swiss are. When things got really difficult, SWICA was there for us. When my son was only one day old, he was transferred to the university hospital because it looked like he needed to have abdominal surgery. I’ve been a loyal and proud SWICA customer for several years now. Ms Rieder was very professional and helpful and advised me well after my skiing accident to make sure I got the best care while I was in hospital after the surgery. It’s possible not everyone knows that SWICA’s Care Management even exists. I have to say it provides really great support. I had major surgery last autumn and got the best possible help from my care manager, including advice and information on the benefits you’re entitled to (sometimes we’re not that well informed and miss out on benefits that we could be taking advantage of). Although this wasn’t required in my case, they can also help by coordinating things between doctors/hospitals etc.

In the autumn of 2013 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It came as a massive shock to me. SWICA reassured me straight away and explained that it is a health insurance company that really covers the disease. Today I’m doing very well and I’m very grateful to SWICA.
