comprehensive cover of your costs in the general ward is important to you.

General hospitalisation insurance versus the hospitalisation benefits provided by basic insurance: how the benefits complement each other

  • With SWICA’s Hospita General hospitalisation insurance, you benefit from a wider choice of hospitals throughout Switzerland, comprehensive cover of costs for accommodation and treatment in the general ward, and personal support during your hospital stay. You get more security and flexibility than under basic insurance.
  • Basic insurance covers the costs of medically necessary hospital stays in the general ward, but usually only in the canton where you live. The freedom to choose a hospital anywhere in Switzerland, as well as more extensive benefits and personalised care, are not covered by basic insurance or are covered to a limited extent.
